Extractions
"It's like pulling teeth!" is an expression often used to denote a particularly unpleasant experience, but actual tooth extractions don't have to be. In the old days, stories of dentists placing their knee on a patient's chest for leverage seemed pretty common. Nowadays, the emphasis is on patient comfort, and techniques have advanced to the point that routine extractions are actually quite pleasant. Well, relatively speaking, that is!
Wisdom teeth
While not all wisdom teeth need to be removed, there are several situations when it would be a good idea to remove them:
- They're causing some soreness and pain
- They coming in horizontally and pushing against the tooth next to it
- They're so far back that it's become difficult to clean them
Gum Surgery
Gum surgery entails a set of procedures that involve the gum tissue, and serve many different functions. These include:
- Gum removal to facilitate easier cleaning
- Gum removal for healthier restorations
- Gum attachment for esthetics and function
